Kismet in the Community: Restoring Our City at the New City Kids Block Party
On May 3rd, the energy in Jersey City was electric as New City Kids hosted their annual “Restore Our City” Block Party, a vibrant celebration of youth power, creativity, and community spirit.
With music in the air, basketball tournaments in full swing, and the smell of good food everywhere, the event brought together families, youth organizations, and local leaders for a day dedicated to uplifting the voices and talents of young people making an impact across the city.
For the first time, Kismet of Kings joined the lineup as a community vendor, giving our young leaders the opportunity to step into a new role as ambassadors for their program and their personal growth journeys.
Equipped with Kismet brochures, branded t-shirts, and information about this year’s 12th Annual Gala, our Kings ran their table with confidence and pride. They spent the afternoon engaging community members in conversations about what it means to be part of Kismet of Kings, sharing firsthand stories about brotherhood, leadership, and what the program has meant in their lives.
From setting up their display to making sales and answering questions from curious parents and community members, the Kings handled every part of the day with focus and professionalism. It was not just about selling t-shirts or handing out flyers; it was about owning their narrative, representing their peers, and making Kismet’s presence felt in the heart of Jersey City.
Special thanks to New City Kids for creating such an incredible platform for youth voices. This experience gave our young men a chance to step out of their comfort zones, build community connections, and practice leadership in a real-world setting.
As always, our Kings showed up, stood tall, and left their mark.
Stay tuned for more ways we are showing up for Jersey City and how our youth continue to lead the way.
