Families Gather for Kismet Summer Parent Orientation
On June 30, Kismet of Kings welcomed students and their families for its annual Summer Parent Orientation, preparing them for the start of the 2026 Summer Program. The evening introduced families to the program's mission, expectations, and the culture that would guide students throughout the summer.
Rather than simply reviewing policies, staff members demonstrated what the Kismet experience looks and feels like. Families participated in live culture demonstrations, including the program's "Hold the Line" activity and an introduction to the Restoration Ladder, which emphasizes accountability through reflection, restoration, and personal growth. Parents were able to see firsthand how Kismet approaches discipline as an opportunity to build character while maintaining high expectations for every student.
Staff also shared the vision for the six-week summer experience, highlighting weekly leadership themes, the City Sailing 101 curriculum, mentorship opportunities, recreational programming, educational enrichment, and family engagement through the Parent Council. Throughout the evening, families had the opportunity to ask questions, meet program staff, and better understand the systems designed to support student success.
The evening concluded with an especially meaningful moment as several veteran Kismet parents stood to offer words of gratitude to the staff. They reflected on the positive impact the program has had on their sons, sharing stories of growth, increased confidence, stronger character, and changed trajectories. Their heartfelt remarks served as a powerful reminder that meaningful youth development is built through strong partnerships between families, mentors, and the community.
The Summer Parent Orientation reflected Kismet of Kings' commitment to partnering with families from day one. By creating a shared understanding of the program's values, expectations, and restorative approach, the evening laid the foundation for a summer centered on leadership, accountability, and meaningful growth for every student.
